Special Programs at Orbost Primary School
The school provides specialist learning programs in:
- The Arts
- Languages Other Than English LOTE (Indonesian)
- Literacy support through Reading Intervention
- Health Education
Students on the disabilities program receive one on one support according to their needs.
LOTE (Languages Other Than English)
LOTE aims to broaden students’ horizons by introducing them to cultural diversity in a changing world environment. The program encourages an awareness of Indonesia, our nearest neighbour, its culture and language, in order for our students to become effective communicators in Bahasa Indonesia. This will lead to future social opportunities and careers with multi-cultural Australia and Indonesia in the context of our developing role in Asia.
Health Education is important across all grade levels and is supported by a number of special programs including:
- Life Education Van
- Personal Development Program provide by Orbost Regional Health.
- Development and Implementation of whole school values.
- Healthier options on our lunch order list.
- Health and personal well being tips in the school new letter.
